1976 Munich With Medals few and far between. Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser set up the Australian Institute of Sport to ensure our Australian Athletes could compete on the World stage. The Institute would be charged with offering pathways of appropriate up to date preparation. Meanwhile our best performed athletes finished 12th Chris Wardlaw in 10000m 28.29 and Ross Haywood in the 20k Walk 1.30.59
