We believe in the principle that you cannot control motion and this is why we have not used the term “motion control” since the ASICS IGS philosophy was born. The highly pronated foot does not have to be put in a restrictive shoe – what is needed is a stable base but also a smooth release when the foot needs to enter the transition phase of gait. The main aim here is to enhance the windlass mechanism at the time of propulsion.
The durability of the Evolution 5 is outstanding in both the midsole and outsole. The most visual aspect is the new Space Trusstic that extends into the rearfoot. This allows almost no deformation from the severe over-pronator at the time when the runner should be transferring the weight forward. The unstable foot normally continues to roll inwards which puts extreme pressures on lower extremities of the body. The dual density GEL in the rearfoot slows what is called ‘velocity of pronation’ which is often the main cause of problem and possible injury for this consumer.
This very quick and aggressive movement of the limb from lateral to medial causes a very high rate of over-pronation by the time the foot is in midstance. This dual density GEL with the new Space Trusstic and DuoMax helps to stop the over extension. The GEL-Evolution 5 delivers the smoothest ride possible to this profile of wearer.
